Après un premier album ‘The Comforts of Madness’ empruntant autant au postpunk qu’au shoegaze, le groupe britannique Pale Saints (formé par Ian Masters, Graeme Naysmith et Chris Cooper) accueille la musicienne Meriel Barham (Lush) parmi ses rangs, apportant une nouvelle dynamique avec elle. Produit par Hugh Jones (Echo & The Bunnyman, Modern English, The Sound), et sorti en 1992, ‘In Ribbons’ demeure un album majeur pour le groupe.
