THE IMMORTAL CHARLIE PARKER (Bird’s Nest 840104) consists of the complete Savoy LP of the same title, featuring Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie on trumpet, Bud Powell and John Lewis on piano, and Max Roach on drums, among others. Some of Bird’s best Savoy sides are present on this LP, among them the amazing « Donna Lee », based on the chords of the standard tune « Indiana », and Bird’s original blues « Now’s the Time ». The 6 BONUS TRACKS come from further Savoy sessions and include the unforgettable « Ko Ko », based on the chords of « Cherokee », and Bird’s poignant « Parker’s Mood ».
