Description
Après avoir sorti coup sur coup deux excellents albums, « Rock Bottom » et « Ruth Is Stranger Than Richard », au milieu des années 70, Robert Wyatt met sa carrière solo entre parenthèses pendant dix longues années.
Certes, l’artiste n’est pas resté inactif durant cette période. Outre ses nombreuses collaborations avec une kyrielle de musiciens (Kevin Ayers, Brian Eno, Henry Cow, Hatfield And The North, Phil Manzarena, John Cage, Nick Mason, …), participant tantôt en tant que chanteur, tantôt à la batterie et aux claviers, il a également sorti une compilation de reprises (« Nothing Can Stop Us ») et la BO d’un film (« The Animals Film »), tous deux en 1982.
Mais rien qui ne corresponde à un véritable album studio. « Old Rottenhat » va mettre fin à cette période de vaches maigres.
